"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105

Why do teenagers complain?
While the topics of complaint vary widely, the root source tends to be a desire for independence and a rebellion against the parental authority, who is still directing their lives.
As a teenagers, we all wanted to grow up, make our own money, set our own rules, and make our own decisions without anyone telling us what to do.
Fast forward to adulthood,
and suddenly,
you are faced with dozens of decisions each day.
Some decisions are tiny . . .
"Do I buy that $6 coffee again today?"
and some huge . . .
"Is this the right person to Marry?"
You may get overwhelmed with decision fatigue, and even look back to your childhood with fondness, when times seemed simpler because someone else was charting your course.
So fellow believer, how do you handle all these decisions?
Do you just wing it?
Follow your gut or trust your heart?
Flip a coin?
Call Mom or Dad and ask for advice?
Your heavenly Father has provided you with a source of
reliable,
trustworthy,
unchanging counsel,
that with study, consideration, and prayer can be applied to any decision you are facing. His Word - The Bible.
David was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write in Psalm 119:
Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
When we go it alone, in our own wisdom, it is like bumbling around in the woods in the dark, tripping over roots and often wandering far from the path of righteousness.
But when we look to God's Word for guidance, it is like turning on a flashlight so we can see the path, his path, and we can confidently walk forward on it.
It is true that you can't just open to the Bible and flip to a specific verse that tells you
what time to set your kid's bedtime...
However,
it is full of God's counsel on parenting that could be then applied to the bedtime decision.
[For example - Parental authority: The right to set bedtime; a child's duty to obey; the Parent's Duty to Teach the Child (like the difference between too little sleep - overworking and too much sleep - laziness), and God's providing Men with times of Rest.]
I don't know what decisions you will be faced with today, but I know that the Word of God is a great source to turn to so you can see the way that would be most pleasing to the Lord.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable
for doctrine,
for reproof,
for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished
unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Today's Reading
Psalm 119: 97-106
O how love I thy law!
it is my meditation all the day.
 Thou
through thy commandments
hast made me wiser than mine enemies:
for they are ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers:
for thy testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the ancients,
because I keep thy precepts.
I have refrained my feet from every evil way,
that I might keep thy word.
I have not departed from thy judgments:
for thou hast taught me.
How sweet are thy words unto my taste!
yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through thy precepts I get understanding:
therefore I hate every false way.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.
 I have sworn,
and I will perform it,
that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
